Alan Jenkins has been performing in the Shropshire area for a number of years now, and has had his music featured on both BBC Introducing and the Narrowboat Sessions, and also at the Troubadour Club of London. Alan’s music draws inspiration from all sorts of quirky acts such as Half Man Half Biscuit and Boothby Graffoe, walking an unusual tightrope between surreal comedy and kitchen sink drama, but still (usually) portrayed in an upbeat fashion with loads of weird tales and chatter!
Sonya is a singer songwriter, known for her emotive lyrical songs & distinctive, wide ranging voice. She thinks she must have been singing since she fell out of the cradle, but playing guitar did not begin until her middle years, and her youthful love of writing poetry developed into song writing. Influences on her at that same time led her to explore pathways to a self-discovery and revaluing of herself which influenced her song writing. Her insights enable her to re-connecting with her experiences and memories with new awareness, compassion and understanding, of herself - and others. She draws on her discoveries and insights to constantly explore and evolve in writing her emotive and cathartic songs.
Kate Rose Rainsford is an aspiring musician who specialises in live performance. Rowan Lawson has, for the past two years, been singing and performing original material at venues across the country, his music has been described as ‘Indie-tinged with thoughtful lyrics’, and his style has been likened to Bob Dylan. His music has received air play and praise from BBC Introducing Shropshire, BBC Introducing West Midlands, and his song ‘December Eyes’ earned the accolade of ‘Song of the Week’ on Rick Witter’s, lead singer of Shed 7, radio show. Rowan is passionate about his music "There is something magical about pulling a song out of the air, then performing it to an audience and seeing people dance and enjoy themselves, feel something.”
Barry Williams is one of the main hubs of all things musical in Welshpool, as both musician and organiser. This lovely guy has played at gigs and festivals all around Shropshire, and has recorded a well-received debut album 'Open Book'. He has also had his music featured on BBC Introducing, and he describes himself as a 'Shrewsbury-based country singer' , but he's so much more that that, writing the kind of heartfelt songs that will make you listen and think.
